Lottery Process & Information

Pasco County residents from pre-school to 12th grade are eligible to attend Dayspring Academy through an equal opportunity lottery process. Learners residing outside of Pasco County may also participate in the lottery; however, priority enrollment is given to Pasco County residents.

  • Our open Lottery Application period begins on February 1st at 8 AM and closes on March 7th at 11:59 PM. Lottery application forms received after 11:59 pm March 7th will result in the learner being placed on the standby list.

To be included in the lottery drawing, lottery application forms must be submitted online via Lotterease between February 1st to March 7th. You must submit (1) lottery application for each child you want entered into our lottery.

  • Priority is given to the following applicants, per Florida Statutes 1002.33(10), and federal and state nondiscrimination laws:

    1. Children of current Dayspring Academy employees (Please note: only full or part-time employees are eligible for employee status. Substitute teacher positions and vendors do not meet this criteria, and therefore do not qualify for employee status when submitting a Lottery application.)

    2. Children of current standing Dayspring Academy Board members

    3. Siblings of currently enrolled Dayspring Academy learners

    4. Children of an active duty member of any branch of the United States Armed Forces (does not apply to the Dayspring Angeline - 4301)

    AGE REQUIREMENTS
By Florida law, the entrance age for Kindergarten is 5 years old on or before September 1st. Additionally, Dayspring’s Little Scholars abides by the following age requirements: Pre-VPK learners must be 3 years old and VPK learners must be 4 years old on or before September 1st.

    RESIDENCY
Pasco County residents from preschool to 12th grade are eligible to attend Dayspring Academy through an equal opportunity lottery process. Learners residing outside of Pasco County may also participate in the lottery; however, priority enrollment is given to Pasco County residents.

    SIBLINGS
If you would like to enroll ANY school-age siblings in Dayspring (K-12) or Dayspring’s Little Scholars, a lottery application form must be completed for EACH sibling. In order to be eligible for sibling status, the child must be a sibling of a current* Dayspring Academy learner.

*Current Dayspring learners are defined as those learners who are enrolled at Dayspring during the month of March of the current school year.

The District School Board of Pasco County and Dayspring Academy do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, marital status, disability, or age in its programs, services, activities, or in its hiring and employment practices.

  • REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
The following documents are required before entering a Florida school:

    • Current Physical Examination (dated and signed by a health professional within one year of enrollment – first day of school)

    • DH 680 State of Florida Immunization Form (transcribed by a health professional) or Certified Religious/Medical Exemption from the Florida Dept. of Health

    • Birth certificate (original required for copying) or other evidence of age (see section 1003.21, Florida Statutes, for a complete list of acceptable documents)

    • Two proofs of Pasco County residency – deed, property tax assessment records, current lease, rental agreement or a notarized letter from the landlord, utility (electric/water) bill, auto registration, or voter registration

    • Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, state-issued ID card, or passport)

  • In late March, parents/guardians will be notified via email of their child’s enrollment status. Parents/guardians must accept or decline the enrollment opportunity within 3 days of being notified.

Failure to accept or decline the offer within 3 days will result in an automatic withdrawal, and the opening will be offered to the next child on the standby list.

  • Learners who are not selected through the lottery process will be placed on the standby list. The waiting list does not roll over to the following school year, therefore, if your learner does not enroll in Dayspring Academy during the current school year, you will need to reapply in February for the following school year.

  • Yes, you can apply to Dayspring Academy’s Post-Lottery Standby List.
The standby list is the secondary lottery list, and it will only be used after the primary lottery list has been exhausted. Applying does not guarantee placement, but it keeps your child in consideration if a spot becomes available. The form will be available after the Lottery Application closes.
